Invisalign
Richmond, Texas
Are you looking to straighten your teeth but aren't interested in traditional metal braces? Our practice offers Invisalign® clear braces to patients, which can provide you with a beautiful, straight smile without noticeable braces.
What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign treatment consists of clear, plastic trays that fit over your teeth. The aligner trays are practically invisible, are removable, and are custom-made for the unique shape of your mouth. Invisalign works just like metal braces as they gradually move your teeth into their desired position over time.
Who Is a Candidate for Invisalign?
Adults who have mild-to-moderate orthodontic issues are ideal candidates for Invisalign. This includes:
- Mild overbites
- Mild underbites
- Overcrowded teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Gaps in teeth
- Protruding teeth
- Crossbites, in which the upper teeth fit on the inside of the lower teeth
What Are the Benefits of Invisalign?
Invisalign treatment is designed to fit seamlessly into your lifestyle. You can remove the aligner trays while you're eating, brushing your teeth, and flossing. Unlike traditional metal braces, you'll be able to enjoy all of your favorite foods without any restrictions. Since the aligner trays are nearly invisible, you're the only one who knows you're wearing them.
Since the Invisalign trays are made of smooth plastic, there aren't any metal wires or brackets to irritate your gums or cheeks. Invisalign can also help you save time on dental visits compared to traditional metal braces as they only need maintenance every four to six weeks, on average. The average Invisalign treatment time is 12-18 months, although most patients start seeing results after only a few weeks.
What Happens During Invisalign Treatment?
During your consultation at our office, your dentist will carefully examine your mouth and talk to you about your tooth-straightening goals. We'll take X-rays and diagnostic impressions of your teeth, which are used to design a set of custom-made aligners that will gradually shift your teeth into their desired positions.
Most patients wear their aligners for approximately 22 hours a day, only removing them for eating, brushing, and flossing. Your dentist will schedule regular visits to monitor your progress and advise you on how often to change your aligner trays. At the end of your Invisalign treatment, your dentist will recommend wearing a retainer to help you maintain your beautiful, straight smile.
